The Rylands (formerly MLU:UK) is an experiment in playing Ultimate under an alternative ruleset which includes referees. The referees make all the calls and decide upon all the rulings in the game. The tournament was played by six elite regional All-Star teams from the UK & Ireland.
A tournament like this has never been seen before in Europe.
Since the dawn of Ultimate, questions have been asked: Are referees are needed to take the sport into the mainstream? Would the game still be playable? What effect would referees have on the Spirit of the Game?
The closest we have come to answering the last two questions is shown in The Rylands DVD. If you ever, ever want to have a fully informed discussion about the role of referees in Ultimate, or even hold a justified opinion on the matter, you owe it to yourself to watch this DVD.
The trailer includes the most outrageous, firey, extreme moments from the weekend, so please don't draw any conclusions from it. It is exciting, though...
The Rylands DVD features highlights from the following games:
SE vs Midlands: 18 minutes
North vs Scotland: 5 minutes
SE vs North: 3 minutes
SE vs Scotland: 5 minutes

Plus there are interviews with players, referees, and spectators, as well as a classic Push Pass credits sequence & high quality trailer.
The awesome plays these All-Stars pull off make this DVD a key part of anybody's collection (or a perfect place to start).
The price has been kept low - £6.99 - as we think it's important that plenty of people get to see this.
